I know mulled wine tend to be a little christmasssssssy, but lets face it, its raining cats and dogs out, cant i indulge in something something nice?
Now keep in mind, all the different spices can be found near the spice rack in any supermarket nearby, they are pretty cheap and the wine we are using is a pretty standard Red.
You just need: cinnamon sticks, star anise, a couple of whole cloves, one whole grated nutmeg, orange peel from one whole orange, the actual orange and brown sugar, a couple of dried red peppers and brandy.
2 minutes of prepping, 10 minutes of cooking = 12 minutes of yummy godlike warm drink
The process and the rules are simple. Do not let the wine to boil, use medium or low heat and adjust the spices to your own liking.
Pour the wine (we used a cheap “Cobo Winery” bottle, nothing too fancy – that’s why the spices are for.) in a big pot and warm it up on a medium low heat. Throw in all the spices and orange while stirring for 10 minutes. Do not let it boil or the alcohol will evaporate.
I like to have on my spice rack a couple of spicy red peppers, as they make the drink a little spicy – and as you might have noted, i like spicy stuff.
Add a shot of brandy after pouring in the glass, a simple “Skenderbeu” brandy will do. Helps adjust the alcohol level and gives it a kick
